Evening Astronomy Course

EVENING ASTRONOMY COURSE

Sky School’s Evening Astronomy Course offers an introduction to the world of astronomy in Southern Arizona. Designed for middle and high school students, this single-evening program begins with a trip up the breathtaking Mt Lemmon Scenic Byway, where graduate student instructors introduce the geology and climate of the Sky Island region, and what makes it such an ideal location for studying the night sky. From the summit, participants learn about local dark sky initiatives as they watch the lights come on in Tucson, tour the Mount Lemmon SkyCenter Observatory, and cap the night off with stargazing through one of the world's largest public observing telescopes.
