Irene is a naturalist, educator, and emerging GIS professional with a passion for wildlife conservation and environmental science. Growing up in the high deserts of northern Nevada, she developed an early love for the often-overlooked creatures of arid landscapes and has made it her mission to help others see the beauty and value in the animals most people fear or ignore. With a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and a minor in Studio Art from Cal Poly Humboldt (formerly Humboldt State), and a Master of Science in Geographic Information Systems Technology currently underway at the University of Arizona, Irene brings a unique blend of artistic and scientific creativity to her work. Her career spans zookeeping, ecological restoration, and entomological and herpetological education and research all driven by a deep commitment to connecting people with the natural world.
