Have you ever wondered why chimpanzees look and act so much like us? That’s because they’re our closest living relatives! I’m a primatologist, and I study these incredible animals in their natural habitat to better understand their behavior and health—some serious monkey business! My lab uses non-invasive methods to study a unique population of wild chimps known for their unusually long lifespans, to answer questions like: Why do some chimps age so gracefully? That’s what I want to find out—because studying chimpanzees can teach us so much about what it means to be human.
