Daytime Field Course

DAYTIME FIELD COURSE

Sky School’s Daytime Field Course offers hands-on science experiences in local natural environments such as Sabino Canyon, Mt. Lemmon, or schoolyards. Designed for elementary and middle school students, these single-day programs emphasize observational skills, ecological exploration, and inquiry-based learning. Guided by graduate student instructors, students use hands-on with authentic tools and methods used by scientists to study biodiversity, climates, soil, water, trees, and other components of an ecosystem to understand how they all interact with one another. Participants engage directly with their surroundings to ask questions, collect data, and build scientific understanding through guided activities. The programs are aligned with science standards and provide a meaningful introduction to field-based science.
